Trip to Kauai

So we had a chance to get a spot in one of Luxus's Hawaiian properties using our bonus nights (7 nights for free) and we took it.

The airfare wasn't free and I'm sure I'll want to be sitting down when the VISA bill comes. Oh well...it's only money...thanks Tony! thanks Keeto!! thanks Ryan!!!

So it's a decent enough place with a lovely view of the parking lot, partial view of the ocean and the kiddies pool (complete with sound effects) and a f@#king rooster that lives right outside and crows like a maniac starting very early each morning. I actually considered trying to capture and kill him this morning. More here on the rooster.

We got here about 6 PM Thursday and the place had not been cleaned yet so they gave us a few free drinks. Fair enough.

Here's a link to the website and looking at it you'd think you we're going to be right on the shore. NOT! Maybe when they get it all done the very southmost units will have only a short walk to the ocean but there's no decent beach there anyway so you still have to haul your ass to the main beach a mile or so away.

The Accomodations aren't bad.

Friday, on the way to buy a six pack to take to the beach, we stopped by one of those "Activity Sales Centers" and got roped into going on a helicopter flight (Monday) and a snorkel cruise (Tuesday). We got both trips at deeply discounted prices but we have to go to a Time Share sales session on Wednesday. 90 minutes. Not looking forward to that. If you don't attend the sales meeting or if you leave early then you have to pay full price for the activities. We'll see I guess.

We finally made it to The Beach on Friday afternoon.

Saturday it was a bit windy and cloudy in S. Kauai so we decided to drive up to the north end of the Island. It's very green up there as it rains a lot and sure as sh!t it was raining when we got there. We ran into a yung couple on our helicopter ride (to follow) that had been htere all week and they said the weather had been beautiful until Friday - the day we went there..WTF!!??? Anyway, here's a few shots

Sunday the clouds and wind were still here so we went up to Waimea Canyon.

Monday we took a round the island Helicopter Trip. We had to leave our condo at 6:45 to get to the meeting spot in Lihue. That meant getting up at 5:30 for a bite to eat and numerous coffee. That was kind of tough after getting up whenever we bloody-well feel like it for all these months. It was pissing down rain and totally overcast. For two cents I would have cancelled the trip but it turned out pretty good.

Tuesday we went on what was described as a snorkel trip. It really wasn't though - it was more of boat ride up the Napali Coast. Much fun.

On the beach, at the pool and in the resort we saw lots of critters.
