Victoria House

Our first resort was the Victoria House in San Pedro on the Island of Ambergris Caye.

The resort was fantastic - a great restaurant, a decent bar, our suite was great, a TV, two swimming pools and two bathrooms!!! The only thing missing was some decent weather. It was overcast for most of our visit.

This is a picture of San Pedro that I scooped from the internet.  It is not what we experienced.

So just some shots of the Victoria House Resort.

The outdoor restaurant. There was an indoor one too but we never dined inside.  The bugs were a bit of a problem but they had smoke pots that they lit at night and they had cans of OFF insect repellent. Nothing quite like OFF flavoured pasta!!!

A nice pool.  Heated???  I don't know!!!  We didn't go in.

Nice grounds.  The thatched roof houses were small but looked very cosy.

Our cabin was on the left side of the building dead centre in the shot below.  Both lower and upper.

A nice living room.

And a proper kitchen. The fridge was stocked with pop and beer.

One thing we did while at Victoria House was to go snorkelling with sharks.   When I say WE I mean ME as Terri is not into snorkelling any more...I don't think she was ever really into it.

What happens is the guy who drives the boat has a bunch of dead fish that he chops up and puts into the white thing in the frame directly below.  The blood leaking out of the holes attracts the sharks and they "nibble" at the bits coming out of the holes.

Later in the day I was snorkelling at a different site, with no free shark food, and these two guys (or girls) showed up and eyed me hungrily before deciding that I was too skinny to eat (hahahahahaha  I wish).

One day we took one of the resorts golf carts to the end of the island and found this place.  Note the bug repellent warning - they weren't kidding either.

We saw some interesting critters there.

A bunch of still shots from the snorkelling trip.

Some sort of coral.

Ditto.

There were more people than fish at the first place we were at.

A Ray hiding in the sand.

A sleeping shark.

That's pretty much it for our stop at Victoria House.
