Sydney
Sydney is a fantastic city. We will definitely return on day. And hopefully on a sunny day as the two days we spent in Sydney we're gray and overcast.
The Sydney opera house on our arrival into the harbour. You can see a large boat is docked where we (in our small boat) would have like to have been as we could have walked into downtown.
Another view of the opera house as we go buy - see how choppy the water is.
Big mean bugger boat. The Carnival Spirit. Not the biggest ship - only 2,124 passengers.
When a cruise ship arrives one of the harbour fireboats welcomes it with the display shown below.
The old warehouses in the Sydney port. All have been converted into modern stores, very funky.
Another shot of the opera house with a very expensive yacht in the picture - the Aurora.
A bigger picture. The Aurora is a $120 million boat. Owned by Andrey Molchanov, a Russian oligarch. See here for more info on the Aurora.
The iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
If you look real close it looks like there's people on top.
A zoomed shot and there is - a whole bunch of them. For around $300 you get to climb up to the top of the bridge. We considered it but the weather was poor so we opted out. Next time. PLUS they make you take everything out of your pockets in case you decide to drop your phone on someone below. That means you can't take a picture - you can only buy the ones they took of you - I hate that kind of rip off.
The famous Bondi Beach below. Not too many folks in swim suits today.
This is how it looks on a nice day....next time!
Another beach we visited was Manly Beach. There were a few people in the water but not many.
I'm sure it would be a great place on a sunny day.
Another shot of downtown from a different angle. There is a lot of building going on.
A brand new casino / hotel complex being built right on the water. We'll stay here when we come back.
We toured the Sydney Opera House and got some close up photos.
Some of the very expensive homes right in the water.
And part of Australia's navy.
Sydney at night.
Sydney is definitely a city we will return to and stay for a longer amount of time.
