Some pics from the Silver Cloud
Anyone getting this far might think we hated this trip - not so - it was a lot of fun. We met up with old friends and made some new friends. We had some good meals and more than a few good cocktails.
I've bitched that the excursions weren't as good as we would have liked and that's the truth. We still had fun.
I wouldn't do this cruise again nor would I recommend it. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't do another expedition cruise on this ship either as there are just too many people. We would do a regular cruise on this ship though. It's a good ship with good cabins and good dining and drinking options.
A shot of the pool deck mid-day. There were a few times when it was warm enough to sit by the pool in your tee shirt and shorts but not too many. The pool was heated though and a few people used it in conjunction with the hot tubs.
One of the features I liked was the jogging track around the upper level. I only saw one old guy (and we were all old guys on this trip) trying to jog. I just used it for walking off all the extra booze calories that I seem to get on these cruises.
The theatre was pretty decent because it was like a proper theater...high at one end and going down toward the stage. You didn't have to worry about some 6 foot eight guy with a head the size of a TV set sitting right in front of you.
Our bartender Mr. Glenn and a couple of Espresso Martinis he made for us. Yum!
A shot of the main dining room. We ate here three times I think. Good food. Good wine. Good service.
The second last night of the cruise they call a lot of the workers to come on stage and we all clap for them. That's the sissy captain with the microphone.
Many of the food/drink/ room care workers are Filipinos and they are good folks - friendly, eager to help. Many of the offices are eastern european and they are, in my opinion, a miserable, unfriendly bunch. That's typical of many of the cruises we've been on.
A wider shot of the same thing.
A shot of the Seabourn Quest. We were in port with her more than once and I suspect that the reason that some of our excursions were less than we'd hoped for was maybe because the Quest, being a bigger ship, got the more talented tour guides. Just a suspicion. We've cruised the Quest at east four times now (maybe more) and we have another cruise on the Quest coming up in either Nov. 2019 or Feb. 2020.
They have a pretty good system for launching the zodiacs...a crane picks them up and extends over the side and down they go...unless here's a few waves and the sissy captain says no.
A last shot of the pool area and there is one lonely person sitting by the window...who could it be?
That's it for this blog.
