Last weekend we went to Kelowna for a few days. The weather forecast in Calgary was looking pretty poor and we're still considering a move so we flew out there to escape the cold and get a fell for the place.
We stayed at the Delta in downtown Kelowna - close to the marina and the restaurants we like. Terri got us a great room at the Private Residence Club...woohoo...aren't we hoity toity...it's just some time shares owned by individuals and rented out and managed by the Delta.
Room was small and dark and I didn't even bother taking pictures.
Nice views though!
What the pictures above don't show you is the bitter cold wind coming off the lake.
I took my old camera wanting to test it out against my Samsung phone and discovered the phone is just as good as the camera for normal (close up) shots but for zoom shots the camera blows the phone away.
The shot below is an eagle sitting next to it's nest.
And here it is zoomed...
The little bugger wouldn't turn around to give me a better shot.
This is a piece of sculpture down by the waterfront. It's across the street from Earl's.
Earl's has a webcam pointed at it and I check it out each day to compare the weather in Kelowna against the weather in Calgary. Kelowna wins most days.
Here's a link to the webcam. Check it out for yourself.
The other webcam I look at each day is one in Vancouver. It's aimed at Canada Place and what I've discovered after a year or so is that Vancouver has it's fair share of sunny days (summer days that is - winter is a different story).. here's the link
