Melk & Durnstein
This morning we are in Melk.
Melk is a relatively small town with a huge famous Abbey
Today we were given two options for our excursions: Ride a bike, along the Danube, to Durnstein or take a tour of the Abbey.
We chose the bike ride.
Friends of ours, Robert and Rosa Hoerhann, live nearby and we had arranged for them to join us on the ride. We met them on our very first Seabourn cruise in December 2014 and have stayed in touch ever since.
Before the bike ride started we walked up to the Abbey and wandered around a bit and got a few shots. You had to pay to go inside but we didn't have the time for that but there were a few free areas we could access. There are also some great pictures by clicking the Abbey link above.
The courtyard. All the people in this shot are from our ship and are touring the Abbey instead of the bike ride.
One of the free areas.
Getting ready to start the bike tour. What a mugly bunch.
That's our friends Robert and Rosa - he in the red tee shirt and she in the blue jacket with her back to the camera. We were talking to Jerry - another shipmate - and a very bad man. More on Jerry later.
A couple shots of the river from the bike path.
Some shots of the river taken in Durnstein.
