Jerash

Jerash is city in Northern Jordan. I'd never heard of it before this trip.

Within the the city are the ruins of an ancient Roman settlement called Gerasa. On the entry sign it's spelled differently...JARASH. Nobody said these guys have to be consistent.

The site is one of the largest, mostly intact Roman ruins outside of Rome and attracts over 300,000 visitors per year. More info here.

Just some pictures.

The Arch of Hadrian

The two folks in the middle of the picture are the two new people we picked up in Amman, from Saskatoon - front seat hoggers. The nob used a selfie stick to take every fucking picture.

At the end of the tour of the site tour a bunch of guys put on a show pretending to be Roman soldiers.

And they had a gladiator fight (the guys at bottom left) and a chariot race (the guys with the chariots). Somewhat hokey but mildly amusing.

Done.
