Hiking: Palm Canyons Trail

Today (Feb 13, 2014) we went to Palm Canyons again in South Palm Springs - we previously hiked the Murray and Andreas hikes in the same area.

This was kind of "girly" hike. Only 600 feet elevation and not hard at all. It was so easy we didn't even have a beer at the car afterward. That also was due to the indian park rangers near-by They probably would have scalped me for my beer.

This is the sign at the top of the trail leading to the hike.

Also at the top they had a hummingbird feeder. Here's a vid of the little devils:

It looks like there have been fires here in the past.

Some of the landscape is truly bizarre. Here, just steps from the palm trees, we have rocks. It's like being on an other planet.

Thats South Palm Springs in the distance.

Somebody told us these places exist because of faults in the earth that allow water to accumulate which in turn allows the palms to grow.
