Hiking: Big Morongo Canyon Preserve
Yesterday we went to the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve which is a great spot for hiking. Lots of trails, trees, running water and even some wildlife. Actually saw our first bighorn sheep here.

We went with a fellow from down our street, Bob V, who likes to hike also. Bob's from Edmonton and is here wih his wife for the winter. His wife does not like to hike.
The hike was about 10 miles so we cetainly didn't need our retired old folks walk later in the day. What was required was a few extra beers to get the liquid levels back up. Had the Lucky Buddha and it was A-OK.
A couple warnings at the start of the hike:
That's Bob with Terri.
So I thought we'd go on a nice gentle hike, have a beer back at the car and go into Pam Springs for a nice lunch...WRONG
You see the note at the top of the map below..??
This is what it says...
So we get to the point where common sense says turn left..what do we do...turn right. Down we go....almost all the way back to bloody Palm Springs.
Well that's a bit of an exageration but the pic below does show the mountain at rises above Palm Springs. At this point it was almost time to turn around.
From the condition of some of the trees we saw it is apparent there have been forest fires here in the past. California does have some terrific forest fires so this was no surprise.
We also saw lots of other vegetation. Perhaps as much as we've seen on any hike.
We also saw running water...which is rare in our experience to dat. Didn't try to drink it but it looked OK. Mountain goats might have peed in it.
A small video.
