Getting to Belize

Belize is not that far as the crow flies but we can't fly there direct from Palm Springs.   We had to connect through Houston. This meant we had to stay overnight at a beautiful (kidding) airport hotel.

Luckily our good friends Boyd and Cindy Howell, whom we met on our Antarctica trip and whom we've cruised with since, live in Houston and we were able to arrange a dinner with them.

The shot below was taken at the Palm Springs Airport. The contrails are a typical sight and will soon turn into clouds.

This is a shot leaving Palm Springs.  Note the snow on the tops of the mountains.  It's been colder here than previous years.

There's a lake (Lake Cahuilla)  just a bit right of centre.  We live very close to that lake.

The body of water in this and the next pic is the Salton Sea. The Salton Sea is a body of water that was created by a man made mistake.  Read about it here if interested. Also note how the jet contrails are turning into clouds.

Approaching Houston I am somewhat amazed at how much water there is.

A typical USA interchange.

The next day we fly to Belize City. It's only a couple hours from Houston. It's a flat place and not at all that attractive from the air.

In the Belize City airport we transfer to a puddle jumper airplane for our flight to the island of Ambergris Caye where we'll be for the first three days of our trip;.

A shot of the area around Belize City.  Lots of water.

The blue waters of Ambergris Caye.

Done.
