Fukuoka

We got to Fukuoka after another sea day and guess what - Terri has a mild case of food poisoning, or maybe it's a mild flu. At any rate we did not leave the ship today and it was okay. You don't have to go go go everyday.

This could haven been the result of the meal we had the night we stayed in Beijing - everyone dipping into the food bowls in the middle of the table - I ranted about this a few days ago.

Anyway, I don't think we missed much in Fukuoka - we hadn't even purchased an excursion as there was nothing real interesting. Sometimes that's just the way it is.

I took some shots from the ship.

This shot shows the location of our cabin. As described earlier we got an upgrade to an owners cabin. Very nice indeed. What we were not aware of though is this part of the ship is directly above the bow thrusters. Bow thrusters are used to position the ship during docking procedures. In the old days I think they had to use tug boats to push the ship up to the dock but these days the ship can not only move forward but it can also move sideways thanks to the bow and stern thrusters

Anyways, the bow thrusters create a huge amount of vibration and a considerable amount of noise when operating. There were a few mornings when the ship docked early - say 5:00 AM when we were woken by the vibration and noise.

Sucks to be us eh!?

There's always someone who tries suicide on these cruises - JUST KIDDING - it's the crew doing a drill. Safety is a big deal on this ship.

Lunch time at the pool deck is one of our favourite times of day. The menu isn't as varied as some of the other restaurants on board but we prefer eating in the open air.

Gordon and Linda. A drinking buddy. The live in a city in the UK called Cockermouth. No shit. Look here.

It's a typical shipping port - nothing like what we saw in China though.
