Landing in Amsterdam

and then taking off again

The countryside around Amsterdam is very beautiful. Everything is so green and lush. I guess that means they get a lot of rain.

On the way south we flew over some very tall and very cold looking mountains. I don't know what the name of this range is. May be it was the Alps.

Here's a video of flying over the Alps.

These shots are of the area around Nice - just before landing.

And a video

A typical street scene in Nice. Lots of people out shopping, pushing baby carriages, eating, drinking and having a good time.

Nice also has a huge beach. Six miles long apparently. Even at this early date it was very busy. This is a shot I took from a small hill we were about to climb to wear off the beers we had while waiting for our room to be ready.

This is a hot of the hill and you can see the steps going up. Its only 90 meters tall but it got us puffing.

And this is a shot of Nice from the top of the hill:

And a couple more from a different angle:

You can really see the length of the beach in the one above. It curves to the left in the far distance - almost all the way to the airport.

The far side of the hill overlooks Nice's port. We'll visit it tomorrow and pick out a yacht to buy.

Fun in the sun.
