Burton Cummings Show
They have a theater here kinda like the Jubilee in Calgary. It's called the McCallum Theater.
We saw in the local paper that Burton Cummings was playing here on Wednesday. I tried to get tickets on Monday....nada.... sold out comepletely except for two seats way up in the top bacony and not even together. So I said pi$$ on it. Seen him a few times already so big deal.
So Tuesday afternoon I think I'll try again...sometimes the artist's and/or promoter's give-away tickets don't get used and are turned back to the ticket office...
So I try and there are two tickets in Row A - seats 117 and 118. I grab them thinking that we'll be in the front row (Row A...) and they'll be waayyyyy at the edge of the stage and we'll have a pretty sharp angle for watching the show but what the hell..it'll be better that watching the House Hunters Marathon!
I don't know who figured out the numbering system at this theater but it turns out that Row A is actually Row SIX and that seats 117 and 118 are smack dab in the middle - couldn't believe our luck.
Here's a shot from our seats before the show started ...
They dont want you taking pictures once the show starts but I got one anyway...as well as a couple short videos. Such a renegade!
Burt is 66 now and he put on a hell of a show...lots of banter and lots of memories from Guess Who days. Oldies like me like that kind of stuff as our memories aren't as sharp as they used to be and it's good to have a reminder of why we came to this show in the first place.
The average age of attendees was about 75 so we felt like young pups. Well I did anyways.
Here's a video called Old Far#s Milling About. It's from the lobby before the show.
This is Burton explaining the next song
And this is the start of the next song
Louie Louie...can't beat it!!
I need a better iPhone that's for sure.
