Borrego Springs

We got this flyer in the mail (or maybe I picked it up somewhere) that was from the community of Borrego Springs. It seemed like they had a lot of neat stuff to do there and places too eat and things to see, etc, etc. We had less that 1000 miles on the new Jag so I thought we'd go there and see what it was about.

Well we should have just drove to Palm Springs and had a couple beer.

Not much going on in Borrego Springs I'll tell ya.

It's way out in the middle of nowhere and that might be attractive if you're on the run from the law or the border patrol but not to me.

We got there in time for lunch and found, what looked like, a decent restaurant and...you guessed it was "Closed Monday and Tuesday". So we ended up eating in this little Mexican greasy spoon kind of place - wasn't bad but how good can a refried beans and lettuce salad mixed in a pile with a big gob of sour cream on top ever be? I suppose it was world class but still...??? The beer was OK though. A Tecate. Never had one before and probably won't again but I was thirsty after all the driving. Had two actually. I was real thirsty.

It's rated pretty low on this site but the judges probably weren't thirsty as I was.

The one thing we did see in this bumhole of a town was some pretty neat welded animals. I would have liked to talk to the guy who made these but we needed to find some water.

In no particular order and with no further explanation here they are:

Now check out this guy...he's anatomically correct.
