Bandol, France
Today we didn't pick a Seabourn excursion - we just tendered into town and wandered around. This is not the most exciting way to spend a day but sometimes it's good just to relax and not do too much.
Bandol is a nice little town, quite touristy as you'd expect, lots of bars and restaurants.
A shot of Bandol from the ship. Lots and lots of condos on the hill.
Bandol is located in the south of France (as you'd expect considering the cruise we're on) and it seems quite popular with the local French population.
The picture at the top of this page is Ile de Bendor (or Bendor Island for those who did poorly in high school french) which is a small privately owned island just off the coast. To get there you need to take a ferry and it costs around 15 euros each. About $23.00 CAD - a bit of a rip off in my opinion. Not much to do there.
This is the ferry that takes you to the island and it was pretty full when we went over. Somebody's making some good money.
There's a walk around the island that's pretty decent. Paved.
And if we woulda' brought our helicopter we would have had a place to land it.
And look at the shirt on this genius...
Blown rods....
Rear end alignment..
Do you think there's a double meaning going on here?
His mom / wife must be so proud to be with such a putz.
The port at Ile de Bendor
They have a few nice beaches on the island.
And some of the gals forgot to bring their tops. Oh well..can't let a small detail like that ruin their tanning.
Some prefer just going in the water without a beach.
A couple pieces of art on the island.
It looks like a part of this guy is getting a regular polishing.
Back on the shore we visited a couple beaches. We didn't bring our suits.
Lots of fresh fruit a veggies for sale here.
Back on the ship I see some people who seem to be having trouble with their catamarans. There were three or four of them and by the end of the little saga they were all tipped over in the water.
So an inflatable boat comes out from the shore and...
tows them all back to shore.
It would be so nice to spend the summer here and rent a powerboat.
Final shot looking toward Marseille.
