Sunday, again windy and a bit overcast in Poipu (that's where we're staying) we drove up to Waimea Canyon. They call this the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. It is a very impressive geographic structure.
Here's a link to a wikipedia webpage on the canyon.
This shot is actually the end of the canyon closest to the hi-way. It's a scenic pullout and like all good tourists we had to pull out and take some pics.
Terri the tourist
These next shots are just in the order I took them.
This place was our first stop - the wind was blowing at about 100 miles per hour and it was feakin' cold. Of course we never took any warm clothes to Hawaii...WTF..who takes warm clothes to Hawaii..well just about everyone we saw here did. Why didn't someone tell us how cold Hawaii would be?

There are about 100 million wild chickens on Kauai (I just made the number up - there may be more for all I know). The reason for all those chickens is Hurricane Iniki. Apparently all the chickens on the island got loose during the hurricane and decided that freedom was a good thing. So now they're everywhere. Here's a guy we saw on our trip to Waimea Cabyon.
